About a week or so ago, I posted on my Facebook about how all I wanted this summer was a sexy/simple maxi and some neon sandals. Well, I now have both!
I wish I could find a picture of the dress for you, but these neon jelly sandals I got are amazing. And so cheap! I almost bought another color (they also come in neon green and orange), but held myself back because I am so broke. But, behold these beauties! They will look so sexy with my deep royal blue maxi.
I try not to preach about this brand too much, but Jeffrey Campbell’s ‘Damsel’ is making me weep right now. The only thing that would make these better were if they were in some chunky fat sandal form.

Because nothing is better than this on a cloudy, rainy day.
I’m kind of obsessed with pinks and purples this season.

Construction around McCarren Park has become a lot more, intrusive to say the least. There is now an edifice that looks like the skeletal remains of the Titanic where the black hole at Bedford and N 12th once was, and the seemingly omnipresent tarp and chain linked fences that have been guarding McCarren Park Pool for some time now, will be coming down. The turn of seasons always brings about more change.
While most of the residents in the neighborhood were disappointed with the closing of the pool, the location of the Jelly NYC Pool Parties and other great shows during the summers, the city decided what Northern Brooklyn really needed was a local family escape from their own neighborhoods, a good one at that.
Thus began the renovation of McCarren Park Pool. About $50 million dollars was the budget for this undertaking, if you can believe that, and it went to building a new pool, that will have a capacity for 700 less than the previous one had. The money also went to preserving and restoring the historic bathhouse, as well as making this landmark a potential year-round facility.
Though the space of the pool has diminished, the amenities have increased in abundance. This public facility will have not only a massive, 37,9500 square foot pool, a beach with a volleyball court, and spray showers. The indoor facility is said to contain a basketball court, a weight room, a dance studio, a cardio room, and a multi-purpose community space.
While much of the younger, trendier generation may still be pining over the loss of its memorable concerts, the general consensus is the new pool will add a greater sense of community, bringing even more people from all walks together.
The pool is set to open on June 28th, with Opening Ceremony festivities set for 11:00 AM that morning. So get your bikinis and board shorts on, grab a beach ball and some towels and get ready for some nostalgic city pool parties.
